Kiwanis Club of Cedar Rapids History

Our club was founded in 1920 by a member who is no longer remembered.
It grew over the years to over 100 members during the 1950's, the golden era of service clubs, and now has 30 active members.
Our Mission is to work collectively to help children while having fun together.
We have built playgrounds, raised money for local parks, and made major contributions to efforts by Kiwanis International to eradicate Neo-Natal Tetanus worldwide.
Our projects have changed over the years, but the mission has stayed the same.
Our current focus is on the Kiwanis Miracle League, Shoes for children in foster care, and sponsoring Kiwanis youth groups.
During Covid, we continued to meet by using Zoom, and the club weathered the pandemic of 2020 - 2021 without loss of vitality or membership.
