A  Foundation board meeting will be held after the 12/5 meeting at Elmcrest.  Foundation board chairman Sunderman reminded us that donations to the foundation are deductible, and does good work.

Sandy Batchelor Memorial Bell Ringing will take place Saturday – Dr. Graeff has notified participants;

The CR Golden K will join us on 12/5 for an Interclub gathering

The Governor’s Dinner will be held on 12/4 at the Ronneburg in Amana, also an Interclub.

John Schweitzer announced a band concert at Kirkwood – contact him for details.

Dan Breitbach was bordering on the delusional over the fantasy football/pancake connection

Happy BucksSunderman had a buck in sympathy for Dr. Dave Graeff, but the scribe missed if this a result of an event, or a prediction of an event to come.  Joe Nolte related his first brush with THE TALK in connection with his dog’s surgery and his son’s curiosity.  Kevin Carlson had a buck for Doug Dix, the saddened Denver Bronco's fan.   Pam Landon’s daughter turned 21, worth a buck, and another went in the cup because of the mother-daughter cruise they recently took.  President Hatala had a buck for the Missouri Tigers, Jim Platt was confused about his Medicare Part D presentation, upcoming.  Dick Boardman expressed shock and awe over Joe Nolte’s story.  Dan Breitbach was very happy that his “parents” didn’t subscribe to Joe Nolte’s explanation.  Don Grimm celebrated with a dollar the completion of two handicap ramps by the Rockwell Retirees this week.  Sunderman had another lame joke about the Nolte difficulties.  Dave Graeff had a mean zinger for the Hawkeyes, based on comparison with his #1 Tigers.

Next week’s program:  12/5 – Mark Hazlett, Salvation Army; 12/19 Kenneth Weiss, Cedar Rapids Civil Rights Commission.

Speaker:   Kathy Green, principal of Metro HS gave a clear picture of the value of and challenges posed by staff of the school.  It is the largest alternative HS in Iowa, and the most successful.  Most students come from poverty, have attended many schools, and have an uphill climb to prepare for the future..

Word for the day:    Folio.  Formed of sheets or a sheet folded once; of the largest size; folio-sized
