Happy Bucks:    Janet Blackledge added to her accident woes.  This time it was a car and two deer, and happily, she’s OK; John Schweitzer was none too happy about Minnesota’s underdog status at Kinnick; Dan Breitbach ecstatic about his parents being back –his “parents”, Dick and Charlene Boardman, had bucks to celebrate being back from down under; Dave Graeff noted that the Missouri Tigers were #6 on the BCS, and a bunch of Big Twelve teams were also on the BCS list; Joe Schmall, class act that he is, had a buck for the Xavier Saints despite losing to Cedar Falls, and says, :”wait’ll next year” of a flag from the 2007 Masters tourney, autographed by Zach Johnson.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE AWARDS - John Anderson (15); Dan Breitbach (1) Doug Dix (8); Jim Doyne (4); Dave Graeff (21); Bob Dye (2); Jeff Hollingsworth (2) Duane Kurrelmeyer (32); Sister Chamaine (9); Joe Schmall (17); Ray Vaughn (29) and Chuck Wehage (2)

Next week’s program:   Dr. Ryan Sunderman, speaking on fitness, health, and other factors relating to visits with him at the ER

Speaker:  Tracey Weber of the First Avenue Wine House had a very informative talk on the subject of fine wines, and laid out a good rationale for visiting a wine shop instead of just plunk picking at Sam’s Club.  .Wine has recently overtaken spirits and beer as the #1 alcoholic beverage.   Stop in at her place, the one with the barrels out front, for non-patronizing help in choosing a nice bottle for lunch or dinner.

Word for the day:   Ficus: A member of a large genus of trees and shrubs so named, belonging to the family Moracceae and widely distributed in warm regions; it includes the fig (Ficus carica) and the rubber plant (F. elastica), a common house plant.  Mr. Grimm accepted the answer “Fig tree”.  Dan Breitbach burst into a paroxysm of elation, and cast in a late happy buck – this was the first time he ever knew the word for the day

((Webmaster calls a Word Foul on Scribe Wehage for using "paroxsm", a word more difficult than the Word for  the Day ... Illeagal Upstaging of Wordmaster Grimm.))
