Speaker:   Bob Hatala introduced Jim Kern, Exec. Director of Brucemore.  Jim has been around Brucemore since 1981 when he volunteered to help Peggy Whitworth with the Phil Donahue event.  Jim officially became E.D. on October 8, 2007.  He gave a great PowerPoint presentation on the history of Brucemore and the involvement of the three families:  Sinclairs, Douglases and Halls.  Brucemore is one of 29 historic sites in the U.S. and it’s Iowa’s only national trust historic site.  From its busy tour schedule, special exhibits, adult and children educational programs, theatre performances to its beautiful gardens, Brucemore plays host to thousands of people each year.  Great program, Jim.  We wish continued success in your new position.

Word for the day:   Don Grimm beat us down again with “tenebrose”.  Definition: Dark.; fig. Mentally or morally dark; gloomy; obscure in meaning.
