Guests: None Birthdays: Mel Rhodes 9/5 Anniversaries: Jeff Hollingsworth 9/8 Announcements: - Jeff Hollingsworth announced an interclub at the Marion Golden K for Tuesday, Sept 29 to be held at the Longbranch at 11:30 a.m. - The Olivet Nazarene playground re-dedication ceremony honoring Duane Kurrelmeyer has been set for Saturday, September 26 at 10:00 a.m. - At yesterday’s board meeting, the board approved $1500 to sponsor 10 students for Happy Bucks: Jim Moriarity - $3 for broken foot mended, older son’s job in CR and younger son at Wartburg; John Schweitzer – Mary Corkery’s good work with the wrist banding fundraiser; Don Grimm – for his neutron joke; Bob Dye – Kennedy’s VB team sang the national anthem; Chuck Wehage – won a contest?; Pam Landon - $5 that she found; Keith Sutherland - $4 for mayor’s bike ride and 3 quotes that he read; Bob Hatala - $4 for the Hawks, Cyclones,??? and Dan Breitbach for something. Upcoming Programs: - September 16: Dr. Todd Conway - September 23: Officer installation - September 30: Carole Luth – follow up visit on Vision in Motion Speaker: Chuck Wehage introduced Roy Robertson, chief investigator of weather radar and Principal System Engineer-Advanced Radar Applications at Rockwell. Roy gave an informative presentation on Collins’ current multiscan hazard detection radar system. Very interesting! Word for the day: Obsidian – dark colored vitreous rock, lava; resembles common bottle glass. Someone in the crowd guessed correctly, costing Don a buck.
