The meeting was called to order by President Kelly Moore.  29 Members in attendance.

Birthdays:   Don Grimm 9/1 and Aaron Randolph (didn’t catch the date)

Anniversaries:     None

Announcements: 1. We lost 40 gumball machines to the flooding; will get some back but we are looking for new locations.

2. Boys and Girls Club sent nice thank you for gift and offered a tour and visit in the near future.

3. Installation dinner will be Sept. 24 at noon – our regular luncheon time.  This is a change from the usual evening function.  Spouses are invited.  Incoming President, Bob Hatala, will ask the Board to consider donating the money normally set aside to help subsidize the installation dinner to be used for flood relief.

4. Kelly Moore was on a roll with college football around the corner and passed around the SDSU press guide with Glen Fox Jr. in it.  SDSU plays ISU this week.

5. Jim Moriarity announced that he is back in his office and offered a happy buck to that as well.

6. Mary Corkery needs 1-2 more for the Kernels game this Friday, Aug. 29 for wrist banding; and 1-2 more for next week.

Happy Bucks: Jim Moriarty – because it's good to be back in his office; Fran Brown – just happy; Bob Hatala – just happy, Dan Breitbach – just happy Note: all three were at the happy table today; Kevin Carlson – football is set to begin; and John Schweitzer – happy to eat/drink ice tea with a spoon since he has difficulty doing so with a fork.  Good luck in life, John.    

Speaker:  Doug Elliott and Marie DeVries, from the CR Library Board, were on hand to bring us up to date on the library situation.  They lost the adult and teen book collections on the first floor along with microfilm, the computer classroom, DVD and CD collections, basically everything on first floor.  The children’s collection on 2^nd floor is okay.  They are waiting for the engineers to tour the facility to determine if it’s fit to be occupied again.  Hopefully, this will occur in the next two weeks or so.  Plans are to get back in there if they get a favorable report and if the city has them in the flood prevention plan.  Currently, the library is operating at Westdale Mall and working jointly with the Marion and Hiawatha libraries to offer services.  The planning process is underway to roll out a capital campaign after all things are settled and they know the library’s facility status.  In the interim, there has been a great outpouring of support from people and organizations across the country.

Word for the day:   Don Grimm, possibly in deference to his upcoming birthday, paid the dollar then threw “hydragyrum” at us.  Meaning what?  Answer: mercury.  As in the natural element, whose periodic table symbol is Hg.
