Cedar Rapids Downtown Kiwanis Club

The meeting was called to order by President Chuck Wehage.

Guests:   Tom Moore, Executive Director of the African American History Center.  Brendon Burchard, who belongs to Kiwanis in San Francisco, has written a book entitled “Life’s Goldent Ticket”.  He was inspired to write the book by having a near death experience several years ago.  Brendon was in town promoting Junior Achievement.

Announcements, Word for the Day and Happy Bucks:  In order to give more time to our principal speaker, many of our normal meeting activities were saved until next week.

Next week’s program:  Mary Lundby, State Senator for Linn County

Speaker:   Gary Dolphin, the voice of the Iowa Hawkeyes, gave an update on sports programs at U of I.  He focused primarily on basketball and football but mentioned that all the sports are thriving thanks to our.
