Cedar Rapids Downtown Kiwanis Club

Announcements:   Ray Vaughn visited Rick Chandler, who is undergoing chemo treatment for lung cancer, and whose prognosis is still unknown.  He reported that Rick is not in good spirits, and would appreciate hearing from his friends by card, e-mail, calls, and visits.  Let Sister Charmaine know if you would like to receive the club roster by e-mail.  Please sign up to take a turn as scribe for a meeting or two.

Speaker:   The speaker was Janet Wilhelm, the executive director of the Freedom Festival.  She reviewed and highlighted the schedule for this year's festival, which starts June 19, runs for 16 days, and includes more than 80 events.  The details are at http://freedomfestival.com/.  Again this year, the Freedom Festival needs volunteers, and will reward a group of 10 people who work one 2.5-hour shift by contributing $250 to the organization of their choice.
