NEWSLETTER Cedar Rapids Downtown Kiwanis Club Wednesday, April 18th, 2007 The meeting was called to order by President Chuck Wehage. 30 Members in attendance. Guests: Two brothers of Richard Boardman, and Terry Main (and member applicant), who is moving to Cedar Rapids from Muscatine. Birthdays: Doug Dix - April 18, Duane Kurrelmeyer - April 19, and Bob Hatala - April 21 Anniversaries: Duane Kurrelmeyer - April 17 Announcements: Duane Kurrelmeyer is being released from the hospital today. And Doug Dix, leading the nominating committee, is looking for candidates to serve on the board next year. Happy Bucks: Richard Boardman, Chuck Wehage, John Schweitzer, Don Grimm, Ray Vaughn, Jim Doyne, Keith Sutherland, Charlene Boardman, and Joe Nolte were happy. Next week’s program: Jim Hodina, from the Linn County Health Department, to discuss Air Quality. Speaker: The speakers were Kay Bloom, Xavier Key Club Moderator; Mike Goldsmith, the Key Club Sponsor next year, Anna Burgason, Key Club president, Sam Bandel,Key Club vice president, Katie Schrack, Key Club secretary, and Steven Ball, Key Club Treasurer. They presented the activities of a year in the Key Club. Word for the day: Festoon -- a chain of decorative vegetation suspended in a curved from between two points.
