The meeting was called to order by President Kelly Moore.

Birthdays:  Jan 17 John Locher, Katie Hiatt-Braasch; Jan 20 Michael Poggenklass

Anniversaries:   None

Announcements:   Lonna Drewelow is collecting books, especially children’s books – Bob Dye will collect and deliver any that members bring to the next meeting.  Dan Breitbach delivered a nice pep talk on the upcoming Farmer’s Breakfast coming up March 8.  Dan began the process of distributing tickets.

Happy Bucks:

Next week’s program:

Speaker:  Colby Sheda and Jeff Rierson from the Aspen Athletic Club spoke on the process and joy of getting fit.  At Aspen, the staff is focused on member results.  Members are urged and supported in goal setting, whether to gain lean body mass, reduce fat, increase endurance and so on.  A sports medicine trainer assesses each new member’s needs, and a custom program is designed.  Jeff expained that there are five components to fitness: nutrition, cardiovascular exercise, nutritional support (vitamins, minerals, etc.), resistance training (push/pull/squat), and professional trainers.

Aspen provides a wide spectrum of group exercise classes to fit various training regimes.

Their concentration on trainers pays off in keeping students at it:  the average stay at a fitness center is 90 days, but with professional trainers mentoring, the average longevity is 18 months.

Word for the day:   Funipotent = playing tricks with ropes.  Nobody came close.
